Distance 7.7 km approx. (4.5miles), 300 m ascent. Start point :

Route :

Drive up Quarry Road in Glyn Ceiriog (between the Spar and Hotel) to the top, parking where the public road ends, and take the track/footpath past the house Chwarel, turning right soon after entering the forest over the steps. Then cross two fields following the public footpath along the line of trees, and above and to the right of the white house Tan y Foel, take the track alongside Tan y Foel, and the path/track signposted Ffynon Las onto the open moor and eventually to the top of Vivod Mountain.

Coming back down the same way, about 0.25km after the trees/gate, there’s a fork in the track. Take the left hand track if you want an out-and-back detour to Y Foel and the remains of Biddulph’s Tower
